It’s really hard to understand what we do until you experience it

Last week my wife and I took our 10 year anniversary trip to Charleston, SC. On our final evening, we headed to Chez Nous for dinner which was recommended by a friend of ours. This restaurant was off the beaten path in a small home that was converted into a restaurant. The food is inspired from Southern France, Northern Italy, and Northern Spain. Their menu changes daily with 2 offerings for an appetizer, 2 for a main meal, and 2 for a dessert.

While we were conversing with the waiter trying to learn more about the restaurant, the history, and the chef, he stated, “It’s really hard to understand what we do until you experience it.”  He continued with stating, “so some insider information, we are being awarded our first Michelin Star next year.”

We were absolutely floored and so excited we got to experience such an amazing place with great food, great atmosphere that was just at our pace.

But, why am I bringing this all up? Probably because no matter what, I am always thinking about the next step, the next change, the next addition to the gym for a better overall experience. I want to improve the health and strength of our members in mind, body, spirit, and soul.  My goal is to keep individuals out of the doctor's offices and hospitals.

I feel like I can relate to this restaurant. They have minimal information on their website about who they are and what they do. Their Instagram posts include their daily menu and daily photos of the foods they are offering. That is it. When you walk into Chez Nous, it is an amazing experience that leaves you with a smile on your face.

I’ve never been great at explaining what we do at ANCHOR (although I’m definitely getting better and progressing as I continue to formulate exactly who we are). Half the time I rattle off the services we have: strength training, yoga/active recovery, nutrition, reiki, massage, sports performance, golf fitness. I talk about how we help hold individuals accountable and focus on educating people on how their body should move, where they should feel things, etc. I talk about how we have a STRONG 45 program where we help to dial in their lifestyle habits to help them get the results they want. I talk about the community and how we do hikes, mountain biking and rock climbing together (we have an outdoor adventure club). I mention how we have had cooking demo classes, gardening/box making classes. I talk about our goal of helping you get strong enough to increase muscle and prevent osteoporosis. I work on connecting my members to some of the best local health care providers. I truly want to keep individuals healthy from preventable and reversible metabolic diseases. I want to teach everyone enough about health, nutrition, and wellness so that they don’t need us….but treat them so well that they never want to leave. I want individuals to come in and work hard while having fun at the same time and connecting with others. I want people to focus on consistency and other lifestyle factors: spending time outdoors, hydrating, eating real, nutrient dense foods, sleeping 7-8 hours per night, reducing stress, meditating, etc.  I want to see everyone come off of their blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes medications. I want the doctors people see to be excited about the changes that we have made to everyone’s  health.

I’m sure any business coach out there would hit me over the head with my above explanation/”elevator” pitch…whatever you would like to call it. I truly feel it is hard to explain what we do in one sentence and that a person MUST come into ANCHOR for the full experience, before making your decision if this place is a home for you.

Until next time,

Charlene
