Homemade Ice Cream Recipe

A few weeks ago, I posted some videos and pictures of my homemade ice cream. I received some comments about sharing the recipe. First, I can’t take ownership of this recipe, although I wish I could, but this Vanilla Ice Cream came from Weston A. Price Foundation. I go to that site a lot to get meal ideas and to try out new recipes.

Here is the recipe.

Now, I did modify some things from their recipe. From their ingredient list I did NOT add arrowroot powder. I also used 1 cup of heavy, raw cream and the other 2 cups I used raw milk (just because that's what we had in the house). The second time I made it, we added frozen cherries to it. This weekend, I’ll probably add something else and get creative with it. The best thing… my boys told me it was the best ice cream they ever had.

I used to think I was lactose intolerant. Since switching to raw milk and cream, I haven’t had any issues. I must add that when it comes to using raw milk, you need to do what is best for you and your family.

Now I’m not going to scarf this ice cream down every single night, but knowing what the ingredients are and the fact that there is no high fructose corn syrup or other questionable preservatives, makes me sleep better at night.

This only took 30 minutes to make. It took me 1 minute to combine everything, get it into the ice cream maker and the maker did the work.

If you try some fun, homemade flavors, I’d love to hear from you and what recipes you and your family enjoy!
